We are a peer-led, peer-run community space for you to build recovery relationships and find supportive resources. RCLou isn’t the type of café that sells sandwiches or lattés; we’re a gathering space for folks on a recovery journey and our allies. We celebrate every type and pathway of recovery (substance use, mental health, housing insecurity, and more). No matter your needs, we have resources for you—whether you’re in long-term recovery or contemplating making a change.
To recognize love in all people, to return that love, and to offer dignity and respect in a safe, loving, and healing space; to empower individuals in their journey towards a better life.

Sarah and JD have forged a lasting friendship spanning nearly 8 years, sharing a deep commitment to the cause of recovery. Their journey led them to become integral members of the Recovery Café Network cohort since November 2022. Both individuals have worn multiple hats as entrepreneurs, small-business owners, and passionate advocates for those on the path to recovery.
JD is the proud owner and operator of Regalo Gifts in New Albany, where he extends his expertise beyond business to personal training, focusing on holistic health and wellness as we age.
Meanwhile, Sarah’s journey has taken her to mastery as an Effiji Breath Facilitator and she holds the role of Director of Operations at Effiji Worldwide. With over a decade of experience, she has been unwavering in her dedication to sharing the transformative power of this practice.
Together, Sarah and JD combine their shared passion for community and healing to bring the concept of the Recovery Café to the Louisville Metro area.
